Ter Apel is a small town at the most southern point of the Dutch provence Groningen in the North-East of the Netherlands.
Ter Apel is situated next to the German border.

In 1464 Jacobus Wilting donated the rural estate ‘Apell’ to the Order of the Holy Cross which build a monastery. This monastery is the main touristic attraction in Ter Apel and can still be visited.

Every year in August there is a medieval festival in my hometown Ter Apel. The festival is held at the Monastery of the Order of the Holy Cross and is worth a visit.
