A Beautiful Park in the middle of Beijing Mar 10, 2008
For a city the size of Beijing, there are quite a few parks. Tiantan Park and the Temple of Heaven are a must visit on the list of things to do/see in the capital. You can easily spend a leisurely afternoon wandering around. It is 30-35 RMB for a Through Pass that lets you into the buildings, including the Temple. A map is another 10 yuan, and although not necessary, it's worth it just for the artistic beauty.
This would be a good place for a picnic, though it might get crowded in the summer. Definitely bring a camera and see all that the park has to offer! Part of the The China Adventure travel blog |

I was proud that we managed to find The Temple of Heaven with no help. Even if we had wanted help, few if no people speak English. I think my favorite part of the Temple was how large the trees are. They’re huge! Compared to South Korea especially, these were some of the largest… And then there was The Great Wall of China |

They werent around when I arrived, so I met up with Helen at Tianenmen Square and decided to walk to the Temple of Heaven. Walking to the temple, we passed by a Hutong area, with the several blocks of the old traditional houses demolished. Since the mid-20th century, the number of Beijing hutongs has dropped dramatically as they are demolished to make way for new roads… The Altar of Heaven in Beijing |
