Greatest Buddhist Temple Nov 01, 2014
By far the best Buddhist Temple ever, there are hundreds of Buddha statues which will surely make you feel enlightened. it's very beautiful to see the temple in the morning because it's still quiet and not too hot. you will enjoy it much when it's still dark. The beautiful wall carvings, Bas Reliefs and innumerable statues of Buddha are worth watching. Just be prepared to climb the steep steps of the temple. The view from the top is a sight to behold. I hope to be back.

“One of the UNESCO World Heritage Site” May 08, 2013
From the Sriti Hotel in Magelang City where I stayed is only 30 - 40 minutes to Borobudur temple by car or public bus and 1 hour 30 minutes from Yogyakarta by hire car / a public bus. The temple is located in the village of Borobudur, Borobudur District, Magelang regency, about 40 km northwest of Yogjakarta and 7 km south of Magelang,

The Borobudur temple area consists of not just the Temple but also a complex that provides many complete facilities, such as hotel / lodging, restaurants, souvenir shop (comprehensive stocked), museums(well worth visiting), gas stations, and means of communication, such as telephone and internet cafe. Around the Borobudur Temple, are many horse and carriage types, which can be used to take a ride around the outside of the temple complex. While inside the complex, there is a motorized train engine that pulls coaches so you can save those tired legs if you feeling lazy or to tired to walk.

This temple has 10 levels, 6 of which are square in shape then 3 are, circular with a main stupa (bell) at its peak. There are stupas which encirle every level . Altogether there are 72 stupas in addition to the main stupa. In every stupa there are statues of Buddha.

Borobudur is one of the most beautiful and best heritage sites in the world which is a recorded history that UNESCO world heritage recognize and list. Borobudur is the largest Buddhist structure in the world and has been recognized as a historical largest relic ever made by man. Many millions of domestic and foreign tourists have visited this site.

The grandeur, beauty, and uniqueness has been built into this temple which was built by Syailendra Dynasty between the years 750-842 AD and in 1991 was established into UNESCO’s World Heritage (World Wonder) List.

Borobudur temple is a building filled with ornaments containing philosophy in which these ornaments have a symbol of unity in diversity which can be followed by everyone to achieve the most noble purpose in life. Carved reliefs on temple walls tell a doctrine of human life which is very beautiful. In other words, Borobudur is the soul of art, culture and philosophy.

After Indonesia's independence by the government of the Republic of Indonesia with the help of UNESCO. The whole process of restoration was completed in 1984. From the results of the restoration of the Borobudur temple now has bounced back into life not only for just the tourists but also for its primary purpose of pray and worship .

The Borobudur Temple has become a holy place for Buddhists in Indonesia and became the center of the most important annual celebration of Vesak Buddhist. Currently Borobudur is one of the wonders and treasures of Indonesia and precious to the World.

If you are on tour of Indonesia then I strongly suggest that Borobudur Temple is a must place to visit to make complete your journey...but I also think Indonesia has so much to offer, that completion of any visit here is impossible...:)

A 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist monument in central Java. The sunrise was awesome! I can spend a whole day for viewing every piece of the sculpture there.
