Our young 9-yo JumpingTwins enjoyed this cable ride over a park in Madrid Sep 06, 2014
We rode onto this cable car just less than two hours from our arrival in Madrid (after a long flight from the USA, haha!). We were touring our 9-year old twins (called the JumpingTwins) with us and I decided a great way to start was to ride the Madrid public transportation and head off to this cable car ride for a great "ride up in the air" over one of Madrid's great parks.
We headed to the Paseo del Pintor Rosales street (Metro Argüelles), an elegant and peaceful avenue that runs parallel to Calle Princesa, where the cable car station was.
Excitedly, we paid for the inexpensive tickets and rode on one of the cabins which reached a maximum height of 40 meters above the ground. The entire 2.5-kilometer ride took just over ten minutes from its starting point at the Paseo Rosales all the way to the Casa de Campo Park, but it felt longer than that. I took a video of us enjoying the ride and the twins screaming in joy, hahaha...despite the time difference from USA, they were still awake but acting weird, haha
I also noticed famous landmarks from above which we explored later - like the Egyptian Temple of Debod.
Once at the end of the ride, we took some pictures around the building and my wife headed to the well-known El Balcon de Rosales restaurant, where she immediately ordered paella (hungry after her hours-long flight, hahaha).
Overall, a nice way to start of Madrid Adventure and very advisable for those arriving with young kids from a USA flight (arriving in the morning in Madrid).
