Teleferico of Puerto Plata Jan 04, 2013
Puerto Plata is not the one of the most interesting places in Dominican Republic, but their Teleferico takes you to the very nice view point above the city. It is nicely built cable car that takes you to the top of the hill that has two attractions of the city, statue of the Jesus (similar to the Rio’s statue, wannabe if you ask me) and the botanical gardens. Ride is very smooth, and two cabins start from opposite sides when they get full. Price should be around 300 pesos and it is worth doing it. To get to the disembarkation building you can jump on the back seat of the one of many motorcycle taxis and speed through the craziness of the streets, or take taxi and feel like the tourist… Views form the cabins are AWESOME, with beautiful lush forest under you and green hills growing from the sandy beaches. It is possible to walk up and down the hill if you wish to avoid the teleferico, and height is some 700m… Good Luck
