Tekweni Backpackers

The Tekweni Backpackers Hostel was a great place to stay in Durban, South Africa. It is in a good (or better) part of the city, Morningside. There are lots of restaurants, bars, and shops within walking distance. The owner is a very friendly and helpful expat who is filled with information on all activities in the area. He also advised us on the places to avoid, which is always helpful! The rooms were ok, not the cleanest, but if you are trying to travel on a budget, it is perfect! You can get dorm rooms or private rooms. There is a shared kicthen, outdoor eating area, pool, internet, and trip-planning kiosk (if it's open). You can also buy beer from the front desk. It is also a stop on the Baz Bus (which is a van that travels around South Africa, Swaziland, and Mozambique and goes door to door between different hostels in the major cities). It also has gated parking if you need it.
