Ted Drewes Frozen Custard Saint Louis Reviews
Go for the goodness! Jan 05, 2010
Ted Drewes' is a St. Louis institution for frozen custard, beginning in 1929. Even though it was December and 30 degrees, we went for the frozen treat.
Their famous creation is a concrete, which is vanilla custard (their only flavor) mixed with different syrups and mix-ins. And, it is so thick that they serve it upside down through the window (I was disappointed though, they were so busy, that they didn't do that with mine). They have standard varieties, or you can create your own. I took a little girl's recommendation, and got the Johnny Rabbit Special -- cherries and hard-shell chocolate swirled together. It was AWESOME! The custard was SO creamy and the flavor combination was excellent! My friend Judy got the daily special -- a huge hot fudge sundae, which she devoured. Jordan created his own concrete with cookie dough.
We ate in the car; like I said, it was 30 degrees, and they don't have tables -- it's window service only. Another note: this location is closed for the month of January.
I recommend this frozen treat, no matter the season!
