Around since the first century BC, this roman theatre is quite a site in Gubbio and in contrast to the usual churches that can be found in the town. It was significantly restored around 1900, and the present condition is how it has been ever since. Considering the age of the building, and its location, I think it is remarkably well-preserved and a great insight into the social activities of the past residents. Although there is a fee-paying option (the theatre is unmanned and you have to pay to be able to get through the barriers and walk around properly), the site can be well-appreciated for free just from a little distance. Worth a quick look for sure when you are in Gubbio!
