Te Anau is a small tourist town located on the edge of the Fiordland National Park in the south island of New Zealand.
The name Te Anau is taken from the largest South Island lake that the town sits by.
Te Anau is the gateway to the Fiordland National Park and has thousands of travelers passing through on their way to see the famous Milford Sound and Mitre Peak.
There are many walks and hiking trials in the area including what is often called the worlds best hike, the Milford Track, and several others including the Routeburn and Hollyford Tracks.
