Tattred Cover Book Store Denver Reviews
This Aint No Barnes and Nobles and Thank God for that! Aug 13, 2010
If you read my journal entry "My First Few Hours in Denver" you'll understand exactly why I love this place. To sum it up quickly here for those of you who don't feel like keeping up (and why should you) here it goes...
Squeaky hardwood floors, exposed wooden beams on the ceiling, nostalgic wood shelves, endless alcoves of comfortably arranged books, multiple levels, cozy worn chairs and sofas, and a cafe with snacks and coffee! Need anything else?
How about a friendly staff, quiet atmosphere, and an awesome old timey feel you just can't find easily these days. Bookstores like this make me understand what attracts people to reading in the first place. I've camped out on the first floor and now the second, littered the floor space around my chair with my luggage and no one is scowling at me about it. There seems to be an event space and even a third level! This place is huge and far more inspiring than the mega bookstores being built today in shopping malls.
I definitely recommend you stop in for some quiet time, a cup of coffee, and a break from city life. The location I am at on 16th street seems to be close to a lot of activity and I am blind to this...as if resting comfortably back in the womb, aware only...of what I wish to think about.
