Tassen museum Hendrikje Amsterdam Reviews
Museum of Bags and Purses Sep 11, 2010
This museum was founded by a collector, she wanted to open up her collection for the public. First in Amstelveen, but that location got to small for the (at the current date of 11 September 2010) 4000 bags and purses. So they moved the museum to a 17th century building in the centre of Amsterdam.
The museum was one of the first museum with fibre glass lighting!
What you'll see in this museum is easy: bags, bags and more bags... but don't forget the purses and some suitcases. Some of them are dated from the 16th century! You'll also see some of the oldest Louis Vuitton suitcases are on show. The building was renovated so you'll be able to see the old and original decorations, some rooms are not in use by the museum but can be seen in their original themes. The interior is still a canal house like interior.
Signs are in Dutch and English. There is an elevator, comes in handy cause of the 3 stairs. Lights are somewhat dimmed because of the fabrics.
For any bag or purse lover an absolute must see, for any other person it's fun to see.
