No issues with the rooms, but the food is dire! Dec 05, 2016
I won't say this was the best hotel we stayed at, but it wasn't too shabby either. The best thing about this hotel is its location: it's by the airport, it's got amazing views of a stream and the property itself is a sprawling piece of land at over 3 levels, complete with footpaths, fireplace and cookout hangouts, and of course the rooms scattered and splattered amidst the greenery and the general silence.

The room is very clean - as is the bathroom, although it could be improved with some brighter lighting.

Reception and staff are super friendly; and very much "in the know". For example, when our flight got delayed, we were intimated about it by then.

The only, and sadly rather big downside to this hotel is the food - breakfast, dinner, anything. It's just plain awful. Lack of variety, small quantities and the taste/flavour itself is really bad. Bland, undercooked at times.... I ordered an omelette and it felt like it was soaking in a bed of oil - so much for heart-healthy breakfast! The dessert at times felt more bitter than sweet.

This hotel is very popular with a lot of tour companies so most folks that stay in Paro end up staying here. It's great...but for a 4 star hotel, there's a lot of room for improvement.

Good question Vance. That's the problem - it was rather secluded in that we couldn't just wander off to a nearby restaurant.

Were any meals included and/or was there any convenient off-campus dining spots? Sounded like you ate there more times than you wanted too...

Huge Suite Apr 13, 2012
Tashi Namgay Resort and Spa located by the Paro River and airport. We had a view of the river as well as the runway of the quiet airport. (Only Druk Air is allow into and out of Bhutan)

The stand-alone reception / restaurant building was huge. We checked in without any problem and were brought to our room by the porter. When we saw the two single beds in the room, our tour leader and us knew this wasn't going to work. Therefore we asked the porter to check if there was any double bed room. He came back with another room key and told us we had been upgraded to a suit! How sweet was that!

The suit room was at the top of a hill and boy, how lucky we were to have a porter. It may be a problem for some senior guests though.

There were four rooms in the suit. The Living room is equipped with satellite TV, sofas and coffee table. The room next to the living room was the "kitchen" with refrigerator, thermal flask, coffee and tea. Our bedroom has a comfortable, clean queen size bed. Then the bathroom with bath tub, walk-in shower with giant showerhead and stones around it for "foot massage" and a clean toilet. Another side of the bathroom was the dressing room with dressing table, hair dryer and a giant closet with additional blankets.

We were told to turn on the water heater gyser switch 45 minutes before we want to take shower however it has been more then an hour, still no hot water. We had the hotel staff checked on it and they told us during winter months, it could take up to one and a half hour to get the hot water. It wasn't the case. The hot water came after three to four hours! So for those who would like to stay in this resort during winter months, better have the switch turned on hours ago!

The resort provides free wifi service with high speed Internet. We love it! Although when the power went off (quite often) the wifi is off.

Food was ok, perhaps because we don't really like cheese and butter (they cooked almost everything with cheese and butter) however the service was really good.

We may still go back to this resort for it view, free wifi, good service, clean and big room. They have to work on the water heater though.

tip: you must turn on the hot water gyser switch the minute you enter the room, or else the hot water won't be warm enough to take a shower

Affordable 3 star hotel Nov 20, 2011
Large clean rooms with clean bathrooms, right beside the river with crystal clear water, pebbles and such, nice traditional bhutanese architecture, food was average, service was excellent. Close to the downtown area and close to the airport.
