Tashi II Lhasa Reviews
cosy and traditional Jul 16, 2010
The Tashi II is one for the two restaurants belonging to the Kirey hotel. It's located in the courtyard of the hotel, right off East Beijing Road.
It's a small scaled and cosy looking restaurant with a rather traditional interior: wooden benches dresses with Tibetan carpets and low tables
We ended up here because we booked a traditional Tibetan dinner followed by a dance and music performance.
This all-in performance included a buffet style dinner with a rich variety of both Tibetan and Chinese dishes. The momo were excellent! I noticed some patrons ordering à la carte but did not check out the menu myself.
The buffet even included some curd for dessert
After dinner we had the chance to taste traditional barley beer and the infamous yak butter tea. Even though I couldn't appreciate the taste, I was happy with the chance to try!
The performance was small scale and intimate and incuded a few songs, some traditional dances and a funny surprise performance in the end.
It was a lovely surprise to be given another taka upon leaving.
Even though it was nothing absolutely spectacular, it is still a nice night out and definitely good value for the money paid.
