Tapas barinn Reykjavik Reviews
Great Icelandic dining experience. Jun 24, 2013
OK,OK,don't shoot me down just yet,but I really wanted to taste whale ,and noticed an add in the local newspaper advertising Tapis barrinn restaurant, which had an Icelandic Gourmet Feast advertised for around $60,including a shot of their local poison called Brennivin (which is similar to Aquavite).
The restaurant is downstairs in a building quite near the Parliament House.
It was packed, which is always a good sign,I think.
At the risk of making your mouth water,I will list the six dishes.....Smoked Puffin with blueberry sauce
Icelandic sea trout with peppers salsa,Lobster tails baked in garlic,Pan fried blue ling with lobster sauce,Grilled Icelandic lamb Samfaina, Minke Whale with cranberry and malt sauce and finally white chocolate mousse with passionfruit coulis !!!!!!!
It was all delicious and presented well, and with just the right timing between courses. There is also an
a la carte menu, and I admired the organisational skills of the kitchen,as each course was presented by a different waitress.
Highly recommended ,and the whale was delicious !!!!!
