Taos Overview

I have been to Taos, New Mexico many times including 2016.

Taos is a nice small tourist dominated city surounded by mountains of the Carson N Forest in North Central New Mexico. Taos is a great place for all services and supplies. The motels I consider to be two star but I camp and don't do motels. Taos is on US 64 and has convent routes to the Rio Grand River gorge and the Sangre de Cristo mountains that are nice and cool in the summer. Just West of Taos on US 64 is a small community built entirely underground. Go further West on US 64 and see the Rio Grande Gorge State Park with its deep river canyon and a walk across section of the bridge for a great view. Both sides of the gorge has large parking lots and restrooms.

A few years ago they re-opened the bottom of the Rio Grande Gorge at Rio Grande Gorge State Park; with camping and day use.
