Indo-Latino Cuisine Mar 04, 2008
Viejo San Juan is known for its culinary creativity and I think Tantra is a great display of that. The indo-latino cuisine ranges from South Indian dishes to a curried mofongo (traditional Puerto Rican food). The portions are generous so be prepared to have leftovers OR share your meals! I had the fried calamari appetizer and for an entree shared the coconut shrimp curry with naan, which is also served with rice. The service was kind of slow...or maybe it was just our server. You would order something and she would come back 10 minutes later and asked what you ordered again...but everything else was good so it did not matter! The atmosphere is nice too - candlelit and painted walls filled with Indian decor. They also have a belly dancer shimmying between the tables. Appetizers $8-15. Mains $18-30.

Apparently it was delicious and I wish I could have enjoyed it but I will take their word for it! I was trying to drink… Fuimos a Puerto Rico por dos días sin maletas! |

We checked into the hotel and headed out to a restaurant in Old San Juan called Tantra. it was excellent ! it was a fusion restaurant, Indian and Puerto Rican. The chutney and the bread, excellent ! THey also had an extensive list of martinis. Only one snag, there were so many crazy names of martinis and none had descriptions next to them… Day 1 in Puerto Rico |
