Tanna is a small remote island of 40 km long 19 km wide,located in Tafea province of Vanuatu.
Isangel is the provincial administrative capital located on the West coast,near Lenakel the largest "town" of the island.
Tanna's economy is based mainly on agriculture and tourism,with a lot of accomodations.
The MUST in Tanna is the YASUR volcano,on the South East coast,the most accessible active volcano of the world.
The inhabitants(approx.20 000),follow there,a traditional lifestyle and in some Kastom (custom)villages have rejected development including education.
You can see them with grass skirts and the men wearing penis sheaths called nambas in Bislama.
