Tambunan Travel Guide

Browse 2 travel reviews, travel blogs and travel photos from real travelers to Tambunan.

Tambunan is a small town in the middle of Sabah. On the main road from KK to Kenigau and then on to Tenom. In theory there is a road that goes to Ranau - but it is very bad.
Not equipped for tourists but it has all the basic amenities with cheap rundown hotels, good cafe's and local food. Unless you are staying at the Tambunan Village resort this is a place to pass through.
Stop on Thurs or Sunday morning for the traditional market.
Nice Mawah waterfall and rainforest nearby - car required. The Refflesia Information Centre has good forest but no facilities. To see the read moreflowers you need a guide.
The trus Madi Mountain is a good climb - easier and cheaper then Mount Kinabalu - some of my friends would say more to see!! Certainly more adventure and less like sheep herding.
