Tamarind Tree Hotel Colombo - Reviews - Colombo

I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you go, please keep all your valuables with you at all times. DO NOT TRUST ANYONE.

I just had a flight delay for 7 hours; the airline was kindly enough to put me in a hotel near by the Colombo Airport. The hotel is call “The Tamarind Tree; Katunayake” The hotel is really close to the Colombo International Airport at first glance when I came in around 4 a.m., it look like a resort, with 1 story cottage unit. The room was big and quite alright with hot water, T.V., small fridge, everything you can expected from a hotel close by the airport.

Breakfast was served from 7 am to 10 am, with cereal, toast, some hot food, juice, tea and coffee. Everything you can hope for an airport hotel. The internet was 300 Sri Lankan Rupee per hours, the speed was adequately fast. However, while checking in I over heard a conversation between a receptionist and another guest, which the receptionist told the guest that the facsimile facility is out of order and the telephone call can only be made from the reception area. (That is just great for any business traveler since nobody want the boss to contact you while you sleep away because of flight delay) “Hay boss, I will email you do not contact me because I have to wake up, get dress and go to the reception area!”

Maybe it is because I did not have any high hope for the hotel or I was tired from lack of sleep, everything seems to be alright. At least everything seems to be clean and I can put my head into the pillow waiting for the wake up call for the delayed flight.
