Taman Rama Rama Kuala Lumpur Reviews
Beautiful butterfly garden Jun 02, 2011
The Butterfly Park (Taman Rama Rama) was a place I wanted to visit while being in Kuala Lumpur. The park is located in the Lake Gardens and there are over 6000 butterflies from 120 species as well displays of various insects.
We bought a ticket for 18 MYR/RM (around 4 euro or around 6 US dollars) each and I bought a camera ticket for 1 MYR/RM (around 0,25 euro or around 0,30 US dollars), as I wanted to take pictures. If you're not planning on taking pictures, then you don't need to buy that ticket.
The butterflies fly around in a big area of the park, which has a high & big net surrounding it, to prevent the butterflies from escaping. Various trees, bushes, plants and flowers form the "natural" habitat for them.
There is a path you can walk on and see the butterflies, as well as several benches to sit down and overlook the park. The ponds have many koi carp swimming around in them. The insects are in displays inside the ticket office building, which also houses a small shop and cafe.
Despite it being very hot on the day, Karena and I did enjoy our time in the park. Because of the weather, the butterflies are more active. So, if you're in the neighbourhood and/or planning to visit the Lake Gardens, do stop by the Butterfly Park.
Part of the list What to see and do in Malaysia
