Tallahasee Florida Reviews
Tallahasse, something for everyone Jul 14, 2011
Tallahassee is a great tourist city. Very compact and all Museums and Historic Homes within the city are FREE what more could a traveller want.
Started my orientation with a $15 Driving Tour with Tallahassee Tours , it lasted almost two hours what a bargain. Beth took us around the city centre and then out to the University Campuses. She was very knowledgeable and gave a good overview of Tallahassee and it's origins.
After lunch at the Fat Sandwich Bar next to the Museum of Florida History I took a tour of their exhibits. They have everything from a Mastodon discovered at Wakulla Springs to a Model T Caravan. At present they have a John James Audubon the American ornithologist and wildlife artist Exhibition . All very well set out and easy to access.
Next was the Capitol Building or should I say buildings as both the old and new are free to view. Don't miss the chance to go to the 22 floor to get uninterrupted panoramic views of Tallahassee, there was also a really cool black and white photo exhibition up there. Did you know the dolphin sculpture in front of the new building is made from recycled aluminium cans ? One is made from just beer cans - I guess that'd be the one doing the back flip.
I even got to take a Belly Dancing Class with Arabian Flair in the Railroad Square Art Park. Tallahassee the city with something for everyone !!
