Olango, Philippines
Talima Beach Villas and Dive Resort - The marketing implies that the resort is a beach-front property. It is not: the island is rocky and coral.
Talima Beach Villas and Dive Resort - Their website states '100 m exclusive beach front'. I don't see any beaches here!
Talima Beach Villas and Dive Resort - This is the type of boat you take from Hilton Pier to Olango Island.

Quiet Typical Tourist Trap Jun 30, 2011
I had high expectation of this place but was somehow disappointed upon reaching it very quiet and deserted. It took forever for their cook to prepare a simple dish.

Good thing is it is adjacent to Talima Adventure and Water Park which has more options for water sports and activities.

I recommend this place for couples who want to have privacy and somehow own the place for themselves.

Talima Beach Resort (Olango, Philippines): A Disappointing Experience Apr 20, 2008
My family and I stayed at the Talima Beach Villas and Dive Resort in April 2008. We were very disappointed with the entire experience for the following reasons:

- The resort uses the word "beach" in its title and in its website name (www.talimabeach.com). The printed photos imply that it is a beach-side resort; the website even states "100m exclusive beach front". As we learned on arrival, there is no beach on Olango Island - the island's coast is comprised of sharp coral and rocks. There is sand on the ground outside of your room. The resort's marketing is extremely misleading.

- When you arrive you are totally isolated from all other civilization. The ownership and management continually attempt to get you to eat at their restaurant which is extremely overpriced by Philippine standards. Appetizers are 300-500 pesos (about 5x - 6x the typical cost); sandwiches are 500 pesos. We got away from the resort by using their rear exit and walking for 10 mins in 35 degree heat to find a tricycle.

- Bringing in outside food is discouraged. You are charged a corkage fee for bringing in any outside food/beverages. Eating anything in the rooms is forbidden. If you eat outside of the room, then you are required to eat an equal amount in their restaurant. There is no warning about this on the website and we were not told in advance.

- You will not be extended any privacy. After we 'escaped' from the resort to go eat lunch in town, the manager entered our locked room to turn off the air conditioner. After complaining about this, we were told "it's our policy". There are no signs and no warnings to inform you that the air conditioner should remain off when the room is unattended. Expect management to enter your locked room at will.

- The rooms have few amenities. The air conditioner is marginally 0.5 horsepower, so expect a hot room. There is no hot water in the bathroom sink, only a small hot water heater for the shower. There is no television, refrigerator, telephone, or clock.

- The website states that there is a "lush tropical garden with palm trees, papayas, bananas, talisays and many native flowers." The gardens consisted of rocks, immature trees, and shrubbery.

- Expect the pool's water to be extremely salty - about the same salinity as ocean water.

Overall it was a negative experience for us and we would not visit Talima Resort again.

We hope this helps other travelers.

For your information I've traveled throughout most of Asia and have stayed at numerous resorts throughout my life. Why the laugher and mocking tone of your reply? If my review is unhelpful to you, simply ignore it; there is no need for your ignorant ridicule.
