Great views Mar 05, 2013
We were apprehensive about doing this trek due to the rapid height gain and the altitude. We were very surprised to find it was much less arduous than we thought it would be. It took us 2 hours to go up with a stop for tea at the cafeteria at the half way mark an hour or so at the monastery and a couple of hours down again. The views are stunning, we had a lovely sunny day and of course the Tigers Nest Monastery is well worth the climb. Our guide had us at the start point at 7am which was a good decision. It was cool, the paths were still shaded, and the horses hadn't started out, so no dust, and it was very quiet. By the time we came down the paths were in full sun and it was getting very hot. Good shoes obviously, the paths are sandy and slippy on the way down.

One of the worlds best walks!
