Taksaka I/II: Jakarta-Yogyakarta Day/Night Train
Taksaka I/II: Jakarta-Yogyakarta Day/Night Train Reviews
Jakarta-Yogyakarta Executive Train Dec 05, 2008
Yogyakarta is one of the most important places to visit while you are in Indonesia. It is a very beautiful and ancient place just next to Central Java which is very rich of its culture and tradition. And if you want to visit one of the world biggest ancient heritage of Buddhist temple, Borobudur, it is only 1 our away (Magelang). And the famous Hindu's temple is located just right in Yogyakarta.
There are some ways to get there, by plane, train, bus or car. There are many kinds of trains going there, night or day train, the economist or the executive, all are available. Since it takes about 8 hours by train to go there, I chose to go by the executive train called Taksaka. Taksaka I is for the day train and the Taksakan II is the night one. You can get the ticket at Gambir station in Central Jakarta.
The train ticket costs you around USD 30 per way, full air con. When you go by the night train, it was pretty freezing, the ac is too cold! Better bring your jacket. They also give you a snack and a hot tea an hour before you arrive (for the night train, they wake you up while doing this) or lunch for day train.
It is pretty expensive as you pay almost the same price for flight there from Jakarta per way, but I enjoyed the scenery a lot while taking the day train, definitely worth it, you pay for the scenery and beautiful views along the way.
