Taking the train in Chicago is great! Jul 21, 2011
The loop (the elevated train that circles downtown) has multiple trains that go out to different neighborhoods. If you're here for vacation and just want to see the popular attractions and neighborhoods, you should be fine using the red and blue lines (red connects south loop, river north, gold coast, lincoln park, lakeview, etc... and blue line connects bucktown/wicker park up to the airport).

It's very east to get from O'Hare to downtown. Just hop on the blue line (you'll see the signs for "Trains") and get off at Clark and Lake (about 40 minutes). You will be directly in the loop downtown. You can either walk or take a cab to a hotel if you're staying in the area.
