When I first got to Costa Rica, I had a problem figuring out the buses. I was fairly new to the travel thing when it came to the bus, but needed transportation. I found that the best bus schedule and most accessible was in the back of my Lonely Planet. Be sure to have a recent one, though, if you're going to use it for the bus schedules as they do change. It gave great maps, told which terminal to go through, and gave a good idea of prices and times. Be careful getting taxis between the bus terminals, though. Take the red ones with the yellow triangles unless you can be comfortable enough to know you won't get ripped off. I paid way too much one time and regretted it later. Oops!
