Taking taxis in Langkawi Langkawi Island Reviews

Langkawi is an island. To commute from one place to another, you either take a cab or rent a car.
After this experience, I would recommend renting a car. The island is actually pretty small and the roads are not busy. And cars here don't travel that fast either! Plus you don't have to worry about parking cos most people just anyhow park their cars all over the place so the chances of getting summoned should be low.
The taxis here are "governed" by a fixed rate system. Each hotel will have a display of how much it would cost to travel from one point to another.
From my hotel to Kuah,it costs me RM30 based on this fixed rate system. However on my return from Kuah, the taxi drivers there refused to follow the system! One insist on RM50 which I refused. Luckily I got the name card of the taxi driver (which I took at my arrival at the airport). At first he refused but thankfully he called his friend to come and fetch us for RM30.
