Takakkaw Falls are the third highest falls in Canada. And quite spectacular in my eyes. Its "free-fall" is 254 m (highest point: 384 m). "Takakkaw" is derived from the Cree word for "magnificent".
It is not a remote place but easily acessible. Just follow the Yoho Valley Road east of Field. After about 13 kilometers you reach the parking lot which is located close to the falls. I visited the falls in the high summer. The volume of the falls is best after the snow melts in spring, though. Please note: as I remember it the best time for taking pictures is late afternoon (because of the position of ther sun). |
