They need improvement!! May 15, 2011
In my opinion, the tourist spot have to be clean and always maintain it. After so many years i didnt went to the Zoo Taiping, i expected they would have something had changed or had been nicely maintain. Because recently a lots of visitors coming to visit ipoh.

I was a bit dissapointed with the Zoo, with all the smelly poos, poor animal supposed to have a better shade with them, unfortunately their body is soo much bigger than the shades, they just able to put their head in it, instead of the whole body. All the animals get wets during the rainy day. The water in the fish ponds is so muddy, i couldn't imagine how the fish could breathe in it. Where's the pond or lake supposed to have fish in it, i couldn't spotted any.

I believed they doesn't have a real animal in it, maybe you could easily spotted the animal with the zipper on their back, it's the worker from the zoo!

Awesomeness at Taiping Zoo, Perak Sep 28, 2010
Are an animal lover? If you’re in Malaysia you cannot miss this one of a kind zoo. Located within the Taiping Lake Gardens, by the foot of Maxwell Hill, this is one place to die for.

We enjoyed the sights and scenes of some of Malaysia's wild animals in an enclave of natural settings with streams, lakes and abundance of flora.

On further walking down we came across more than 180 species of fauna along with 1300 individuals including birds, reptiles and mammals. Here we saw some rare endangered species like the whitehead eagle, honeybears, black panthers, cute little orang-utans, Malaysian elephants and tiger

The excitement did not end here. Well it just began for us. We went on a Taiping Night Safari. Now here you need to Watch nocturnal animals get active at night closely without harming them. There were like vivid sounds made by numerous creatures of the forest. Also we were sure enough to minimise all noises so that we could hear the sounds of the jungle. All in all, it was a great time and a wonderful night safari experience.
Welcome to the Taiping Night Safari
cute lil orangutans greeting us

Taiping Zoo is a lot bigger than I expected it to be. It has a wide variety of animals and they seem to be in pretty good condition, except for a few poor creatures slumped in their cages from the heat. Entry is RM5 for adults, less for children. You have to pay another RM3 for a train ride, but it's worth it. The little train takes you around the whole zoo and the driver points out the animals (in Malay, but just follow the fingers of the excited kids up the front and you can't miss them). The zoo offers an African savannah, Colours of the Amazon (mostly birds, but cool birds nonetheless) and even an Australian Animals section. There are baboons, monkeys, big birds, crocodiles, rhinos, hippoes, snakes, tigers, panthers and more... You can get your picture taken with a big, heavy yellow corn snake for a couple of ringgits. It's tough going with kids in tow and dealing with the heat, but still well worth it.
I get friendly with a yellow corn …
