Tagbilaran is the capital of Bohol province, which is well known for its Chocolate Hills, old churches, white sand beaches, and a cute little primate known as the tarsier.
Historically, Bohol is known as the site where the blood compact between Datu Sikatuna, a local native chieftain, and Captain Miguel López de Legazpi, the Spanish explorer and colonizer was held on March 16, 1565.
