Tadka New Delhi Reviews
Touristy but decent enough Feb 11, 2011
Located off one of the main roads in the Paharganj area of New Delhi, and fairly near to the Ramkrishna Marg metro station, Tadka is quite popular amongst the tourists. It should be as well, as its featured heavily in the eating recommendation section of various guide books and is one of the more prominent eateries on the street.
The range of food on offer is all vegetarian, and focuses heavily on north Indian food and some south Indian dishes too. Menus are available in English.
The service is quick and rather friendly, and the places gives the vibe of a fancy restaurant considering its in backpacker central!
I ordered the thali and thought it was fairly decent. The price was average, the range of dishes were basic, the presentation was very good but the spices weren’t that amazing. For those who aren’t accustomed to Indian food, it wouldn’t be bad here. However, if you like spicy food and/or know Indian food well, you will realise that the spice levels aren’t right. I think they are aiming for the tourist coin more here, and if I went here again, I’d ask for my dish to be extra spiced.
