During the summer of 2004 I was one of 5 British people who went out to Africa with a 2,000 strong team of international volunteers to try and bring aid, help and hope. Our work included prison ministry, helping in orphanages, working in the hospices with people with HIV/Aids, children's work, door to door evangelism and working with the homeless.

We get up at 7.15 am. Trudy wants to have breakfast outside the hotel, but I am hungry and don’t feel like wandering around searching for food, so we eat in. Nothing special, and way too expensive (75 Rand per person). At 8.45 am we are at the VOC fortress again, but it doesn’t open until nine…

Deep sea cage diving with the great white sharks in very cold climate ...what a unforgettable experience! Look on the bright side!!Lions and cheetahs are actually quite 'friendly' animals ,just don't agitate them and you will be fine :P
