Tabicolle Backpackers Fukuoka Reviews
Clean, homey, and affordable hostel in Fukuoka! Oct 04, 2010
Clean, warm, and homey hostel in Fukuoka!
Tabicolle is quite a walk from Hakata Station - at least 15 minutes - but not quite worth it to use the bus that requires 2 transfers and with no close metro/subway station nearby.
However, despite the distance, Tabicolle is a very nice, warm, and homey hostel. The staff is very friendly, the space clean, and the common room a nice place to congregate and mingle with fellow travelers. The common lounge area has a large tv with DVDs (english & japanese movies)
I arrived before 1pm, too early for check-in but the staff was willing to accomodate me and checked me in easily enough. When making a booking, just let them know what time you'll be arriving so they can expect you.
I booked myself in a 4 female dorm tatami room for 2500yen/night - it was clean and spacious wtih clean and fresh sheets, pillow and futon! You will need to provide a 1000yen deposit for the hostel keys which will be returned when you check out.
There is also a mixed 5-dorm tatami room.
There are 2 toilets and 1 shower to be shared - with shampoo/conditioner/body wash.
The hostel also provids high speed internet access(include Wi-Fi), a free short term storage, hair dryer available for hire, and washing machine (300yen).
Close by are 2 convenience stores (Family Mart & 7-Eleven), a supermarket (Sunny Market), and a publich bath.
Despite the 15-minute walk from Hakata Station, Tabicolle Backpackers is a great hostel to stay in with its great staff and clean and affordable rooms. The atmosphere is warm and it feels like visiting friends instead of being in a hostel!
Minus points only for the long walk and the sole shower for everyone to share but everything else is fantastic!
