Taberna Herrerías Logroño Reviews
Local food in the old town Jan 04, 2011
This restaurant is located in a small palace from the XVI Century right in the old town. A local friend took us to this excellent place where you can sample local food and wine. Actually we didn't order a main dish so instead we ordered several dishes we shared in the middle of the table.
All dishes were very tasty and well presented. Best of all was our waiter, who recommended us everything we had. But best of all was the wine our friend ordered! it was a Marqués de Vargas, a "Reserva" from 2005, a very good year for La Rioja. If you don´t understand much about wines, let them make the selection for you. Wine is a local culture, so everyone will be able to recommend you the best wine for the occasion.
There are two floors. The upper floor is only open during weekends, as it is quite large. The views from the table are just amazing. Check the pics I just attached.
We had he chance to meet the owner of the place, well actually is a family restaurant! so we met the son, who happenedd to be our waiter and he told us his mother was cooking that day! :)
By the way, right now I don´t remember the name of the dessert we had, but it was just delicious! Now I will have to run for 10K or 15K to lose all those calories :)
Dinner came up to be 40 euros each aprox. ;)
