Ta Ong Village, Laos Jan 19, 2012
From Pakse I took a guided trip to Se Phian, inside of the natural park there's Ta Ong Village. I was there just for 1 night, but it was still memorable. After trekking through the jungle for almost 4 hours, I arrived to the small village around 2 pm. They hadn't had any visitors for like half a year, so they made me feel so comfortable. This village is special for its sacred gongs, which they play just for special occasions, like national days. The elder people uses this gongs while the kids sing. Imagine that, it was around 5:30 pm, completely dark, starry night, just with some candles, the started playing those mysterious gongs, then a little girl started singing a sweet melody, and well, I ended up dancing with the people and trying ( without success ) to sing as well. It was a great experience. Oh and for the record, I took the most amazing shower ever right there, I had to pump the water from the river ( 5 minutes pumping more or less ). It was totally worth it by the way...
