Well its the Thursday before easter, so i think the whole of Sydney was going out, wasnt feeling so good so was going to have a quiet one, but one of the lads in the hostel pursuaded me that was a rubbish idea and that I should come out with him and his friends, so i did, and what a funny night, we must of gone to at least 8 bars all of them different and all a really good laugh, as the night went on the numbers dwindled, till there was 3 of us left so we decided to go back to Kings Cros…

A couple years ago I took a bus from London (Ontario, Canada) to New York (USA). The bus ride was 14 hours in total. It was the worst bus ride ever! Someone on the bus took off his shoes and in no time the whole bus had this horrible feet smell. The smell was so bad that it woke me up. The bus driver gave several warnings to this person and demanded he put on his shoes. A few hours later, this person got off the bus but nevertheless, it took a while before the smell was away. I decided never …

As I write this last entry for my time in Sydney (Friday 10th August) I feel quite tired and lethargic after a night out last night that incorporated a few bars around Circular Quay and then finally George Street!! It was a unique night because all of us as a group went out (which hasn't happened for some time!!)...Me, Natasha, Ian, Dave, Helen, Emily, Lee and Claire (Emil'y friend from the UK.  After a few drinks in one of the bars we all decided to do something that none of us had don…

Today we were off to the main zoo in Sydney.  The name escapes me so I'l update the blog later with details.  The zoo was a blast.  We got a ferry pass combined with the zoo ticket so we were able to go straight from the ferry, to a sky ride up the top of the zoo (which is situated on a hill), and into the zoo. The chimps were the best part.  When we saw them they were engaged in some civil unrest.  Fighting over food, playing, and swining on everything they could.…

Aloha Readers!I have just got back from my first ever jaunt to Bondi beach. "How lovely" I hear you cry. I awoke this morning at 6am to the sound of drunken tomfoolery in the street outside the hostel, I suppose it serves me right picking my digs in the Red light district of this ebullient city but I was not greatly appreciative of such an early call, especially after having consumed several ales last night. C'est la vie. The early bird catches the worm as the saying goes. So, after cooking m…

How many of you have been to Sydney? What do you find interesting there? What you like to see again? Would you like to come back there again? That is the question I ask myself and I did went back there again last March 2007. This time when I was there, I did the opposite of what most people do. I didn’t do much of the tourist things because I’ve done it before. And this time, I take it easy and go with the flow. I felt fully rested and I able to see the life there through my eyes. I get t…

My iBook wasn't talking to the wifi in the Hotel, and it seemed that a firmware update might be necessary, so we strolled up to the local Apple store. As it turned out, I was up to date, and my iBook worked perfectly on the store's wifi network, so I decided it must be another case of PC vs Mac incompatibility. Ho hum... Still, there's a coffee shop conveniently located just outside the Apple store, where we sat on the pavement and watched the suited saddos going to work, enjoying the freedom…

Bondi Beach and Botany Bay Ali's car is a dusty looking commodore, and was packed to the brim with our camping equipment. Mattresses, pillows and foldable chairs plugged up the back seat and because the air-conditioning wasn't working (which is a bother on these hot days), we rolled down the windows surfer style. Packing up at my cousins studio apartment where we'd been staying for the past two nights, we hit the road again, this time due East and South for Bondi Beach and Botany Bay. …

Well everyone seems to like my traveling photo journals, so I decided I would revisit the past and share some photos of me back in the day. I appologize for any lack of quality in these photos, they have undergone a variety of resizes and compressions. But heck, they still look great for my old 2.1 Megapixel camera! First stop on memory lane... Australia. My first experience outside of the USA. I highly recommend it as a travel destination. Its perfect for those people who might be nervous a…

Day 6 was one of the most tiring days for us because it involved a lot of walking, walking & walking. You'll know why so okay, we woke up much earlier as usual because our tour bus will be waiting for us at about 7.45am. We woke up around 6am (the same time i wake up to go to work) on this day. We rode onto this APT bus and we're very pleased because the bus driver was very knowledgable. I couldn't remember his name but he told the passengers including us a lot of things about Sydney. We …

Well actually I made two of them, this shows you how dumb i can be :) I never changed the time or date on my laptop and I bought a bus ticket to byron bay for the wrong day. I thought it was for today and when I went to print it I found it was actually for last night. Damn it! So i called greyhound, and by the way greyhound i…

We woke up on our Air Canada flight back to Sydney when the sun started coming up.  We were only a couple of hours from landing and we were getting excited to see our family!  We had some really rude people sitting behind us who enjoyed pushing our chairs upright when they felt like it even though we were still trying to sleep!!! We landed at 6am, and we went through customs really quickly.  I had to declare a few things, but even so, still it was really quick.  We approa…
