Occasionally flight attendants make the 'in-flight safety lectures' and on board announcements a bit more entertaining. Here are some examples that people have heard or reported:   On landing into Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, a notoriously windy airport during certain months, we bounced on the runway and it felt as if we landed twice, while taxiing to the terminal the cabin manager started her announcement with, ”Welcome to Alice Springs. Welcome to Alice Sprin...

Good Morning, Sydney! Goodnight, Blue Mountains!

Today, I came to see more of Sydney.  Gina was sooo nice to drive us around the city, and even to some outskirts. Everything I expected and wanted to see and do in Sydney, from Opera Harbour, to some daring bars, to native animals, was accomplished. I just fell in love with Sydney! ------------------------------- As she promised, Gina picked us up from our hotel and drove us around the city. We recalled that she once mentioned about some "nude beaches" in Sydney. Sh...

Back once again! This is my fourth visit to Sydney on my trip, but it just keeps getting better and better. What a city; the weather, the harbour, the coast, I'm constantly falling in love here. While I'm getting extremely pumped for Asia, at the same time I can't get enough of Syddy. This time I'm here to gear up for Asia and to meet up with friends and buddies. On my second visit to Syddy this trip, I met up with TravBuddy Allan (Codebeck). We met up, drank a couple of beers and wa...

Catching up with an old friend
posted by:

I arrived back into Sydney bright and early, and as Robin was not expecting me until late in the afternoon, I called my friend Caroline to see if she was home. Caroline was indeed home, her son was off school with the flu, so I enjoyed the day with Caroline and her two beautiful children. I came back to Sydney to visit Robin, one of my mums’ good friends. It was great to catch up with Robin, her son Daniel, his wife Shannon and their children Jack and Olivia. Robin, Shann...

Ok, so sitting at home with Katie and Lisa today, looking through their dozens and dozens of photos from their trip to India the first time, and we agreed that maybe there won't be long enough for me to do everything in 3 and a half weeks.  So the plan is to go in to work tomorrow and ask my incredibly angry (all of the time) boss for an extra weeks leave - without pay of course...anything to get her to say yes. We sat out in the backyard role playing one of us being me and one of us b...

Hi everyone, we went to the Ice Bar on Sunday Evening, was a very strange experience. The cost was $30, they only allowed small groups of people for 30 minute periods, in the price we got a free cocktail and if you wanted you could eat your glass, i had a few bites and had enough, lol.

Australia at a glance

Unfortunately, I did not discover the glory of TravBuddy until months after my trip to Australia. Still, the events are fresh in my mind and could definitely be used by many of you who wish to travel to such a lush country in the future. When the majority of people think of Australia they either get a clear mental image of Nemo or the Crocodile Hunter. Either that, or they are fear-ridden by the pressing image of that cute, young, blonde Aussie girl missing half an arm thanks to an overzeal...

Leaving on a jet plane
posted by:

There is not much to tell in this entry. I flew Qantas business class from Hobart to Sydney, then collected my baggage from the carousel and rechecked for my Jetstar flight to Maroochydore (Sunshine Coast).  I love flying over Sydney, I don’t think there is a more beautiful sight from the window of a plane. I was given the choice of seat, either an aisle seat in the exit row or a window seat in another row. I chose the window seat. I don’t have any photos to share with you of Sy...

I'm current in Sydney, I've have been here for about 4-5 months working hard and saving some cash. The time is quickly approaching where I'll be hitting the road again and heading to New Zealand and then onto South America! Time is flying by at the moment and there is much to get my head round before I leave Australia. I have been ready to leave for a while but saving money has been the priority. I will, once again be updating my blog with all the interesting things that happen. It's ...

Thursday: We woke up at like 8am which was really fun. Nick and Steve were soo hung over it was funny, Steve was bitching about EVERYTHING it was soo funny haha. We left the hostel at like 9:15 to walk to the bus stop. The ride to Sydney was a couple hours, not too bad. We got there and then wandered for a bit trying to find some food. I asked the travel agent about bus tickets to brisbane and flights to thailand. Me and Steve took a train to Kings Cross where our hostel was and Nick le...
