Sydney Tower - View over the city Aug 19, 2011
As a fan of nice panoramic view, I decided to go in the Sydney Tower (fee is 25 AUD / adult). I was told that they have package price (such as cheaper tickets for more than one attraction). You have to pay extra for the hearing documentary kit (which I didn’t get, as I figured I don’t need much introduction to nice views I could see for myself). They also have the ‘skywalk’ program for upgraded cost, if you fancy walking outside the building, on an open-air viewing platform. Everybody will be equipped with safety harness. The daredevils can take the package of walking on top of Sydney Harbor Bridge (with the cost over 200 AUD, it’s the price which was my main concern, not the height..). The view was spectacular, despite the cloudy day so the Harbor Bridge and Opera House were just a blur object from the top. Best view was of course to the Hyde Park (which now displayed clear top view of the patterned green patches).

The viewing windows were in 360 degrees, and there were viewing binoculars. The place was full when I was there (mostly high school students and tourists). I took pictures, being asked to take pictures for few other visitors, and kept pacing the 360 degree windows for any good views I might miss earlier. (I felt like for 25 AUD, at least I should stay a bit and take as many good photographs as possible). It was actually paid off, as the Harbor Bridge was lightened up for a good few minutes when the cloud cleared up. Sometimes it’s worth waiting for a good shot.

I wanted to like it... May 18, 2011
...that's all I can say really.

I went there for Christmas dinner in '09 and maybe it's changed since then, but it was mega expensive to get a table, there was no atmosphere and the food was only so-so. I can't fault it in regards to the view that it gives you of Sydney, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to, which is a bit of a shame.

Lame show with good views over Sydney Jan 30, 2009
I've often wanted to go up Sydney Tower to see the views over Sydney, but never before shelled out the $25 it costs. This time we did, getting the mandatory combined ticket of OzExperience and the Observation deck. The OzExperience was one of the most painful characterisations of Australia I have ever seen, a really stupid holographic show followed by one of those fake rollarcoasters where your seat bumps up and down. Really lame, old and basically a pathetic attempt to live up to the Australian sterotypes. The observation deck gave really great views of Sydney, excellent for showing the basic layout and how far the harbour winds, but the windows are dirty, there is almost no view of the Harbour Bridge or the Opera House and basically you feel a bit ripped off for the $25 you pay.

From an Australian's perspective, I might consider it if I was a tourist just to see the views, but you're right...the entry fee is an absolute rip-off

Sydney Tower Aug 03, 2009
I enjoy going up towers for a view of a city. That way you can see great views and how big a city really is. So Sydney Tower was on the list of what Martin and I wanted to do in Sydney.

We bought a Discovery Pass, meaning I could visit the tower, the Oztrek, the Sydney Aquarium and the Sydney Wildlife World. Convenient as we wanted to visit the other 2 as well.

We skipped the Oztrek and went straight up the tower. The view was very far, the weather sunny and bright. The windows were clean. It was in august, winter time there and in the morning, so I don't know what the view would be like during summer when it comes to potential smog.

Sydney is not as spectacular as let's New York or Tokyo, but still I enjoyed the views. Downside was that the Opera House was barely visible because of high rise buildings that were blocking the view mostly.

On top there is a shop to buy many types of souvenirs, as well as the chance to take the Sky Walk. We decided not to do it, as it was pretty expensive.

So in general, I enjoyed the views and as for value for money. It's cheaper when you get a combined ticket for the 2 parks, instead of the single ticket for just the tower.

Would I recommend it? Yes, but go early, as you avoid (possible) crowds, make sure you go on a clear day and get the combination pass.

You won't miss this one from any skyline in Sydney. It is the tallest structure in the city. The Sydney Tower, also named as the AMP Centrepoint Tower, located at 100 Market Street, just right between Pitt and Castlereagh Streets. One of the most popular pay visit attraction in Sydney.
