We are almost there...

After the gorgeous scenery around Strasbourg, the rest of the morning was uneventful. At least, until we came to the Swiss border. Switzerland, not belonging to the EU, is the last country in Western Europe with borders. The Swiss are known throughout Europe for their strict immigration policy. They do a fine job keeping everyone out they don't want in their country. So, there we were, the Swiss border. We were 'warmly welcomed' by two female guards, who gave us an icy look and with a ...

In the sky above Geneva
posted by:

This morning we are first going to meet with some friends and in the early afternoon catch a flight back to Geneva. Yesterday we walked through the city in twilight and the dark. This morning was a grey but dry day with crispy cold air. The centre looks different at daytime, of course, but at least as charming. We now had a chance to see Zurich in a bigger context with the surrounding mountains as a beautiful back-drop. It was nice meeting with our friends. They had good news for us ov...

The rest of the night wasn't all sweet at all. We got on the train by 11pm and had some sleep for a few minutes until I got really cold and couldn't sleep anymore. And then an hour later some drunk guys sat with us and annoyed every inch of our hair. I was the unlucky one to sit with the drunk guy who wouldn't shut his mouth. I shouldn't have opened my eyes and let him know that I'm awake enough for him to ask me whatever it was he asked me (memory gap again). I just told him that I don't s...

Astri, Bhavi and I left the hotel at around 12noon to grab some lunch and go around the city.  We were supposed to meet at 11am and obviously we all overslept so we all meet up late.  It is a holiday now here that is why the road is quiet..  We ate at Molino Ristorante Pizzeria, my second time here and this time I tried the really yummy looking pizza.. We sat outside to enjoy the sun and the place is packed.  The order took a long time to arrive and I think my skin co...

The idea of going to Basel came out of short notice and more or less any means to go much further. I had been to Basel before and I really liked it there, so I thought I want to explore Switzerland a little more. The drive is usually about 4 hours long, but we left too late, around 7am instead of 6am as I had planned " and got stuck in all kinds of traffic… after riding back to back on the Autobahn and not being able to go faster than 100km,  I got tired of it and we decided to ...

What a day. It was POURING RAIN again and I was caught in it without a jacket or umbrella, wearing a black T shirt, linen skirt and HEELS. I didn't even have time to go home and change.I could not sleep last night because I'm in a new place, finally getting some shuteye somewhere around 5am. I went to work today just before noon, crashed an afternoon lecture at 3pm from the Brazil Mission, went back to work until 8pm, sitting next to an important Portfolio Manager, and then met up with Rina, ...

well, it's been over a week now for me to get back to normal life... and i'm still not really there the last 9 months have had a tremendous impact on my life, myself and my expectations for the future. and i don't think i can ever really close this chapter in my life; i'll probably stay a traveler for as long as i live - maybe not staying for 2 days in each city, but constantly on the move nevertheless. i've seen amazing things, met great people, done unexpected things and sucked i...

It is the 3rd most expensize city in Switzerland after Zurich and Geneva. There is a ferry that provides tours of the c...
