Swissotel The Stamford Nov 19, 2017
I stayed in this Hotel because the rest were fully booked due to a big conference that was held during the time of my stay. For this reason the price for their rooms also went up.

I got their standard room which was just renovated a month before. For the price that I paid (average SGD 450), it was really not worth it. Here are some of the flaws, particularly for a person who's traveling on business:

- Usually when you first enter a hotel room, you'd need to slot in the key card and all the lights will be turned on. This room does not require that. You're left in the dark to figure out where the lights are, and it's really not next to the door.

- There's a nice working desk overlooking nice view. However, only a small note pad and a pen was provided. No A4 sized paper, no envelopes. No phone on the desk. There are about 3 power sockets for charging though.

- A phone is found right at the corner of the room, next to the bed. Can you imagine needing to use the phone while working and you had to go next to the bed right at the corner? Even if you're not working at the desk, who actually makes phone call right at the corner? It's not even cordless.

- I don't want to make a fuss over a phone, but that's the most inconvenient for me. I called housekeeping to ask about the toiletries which I thought they had forgotten to supply. The staff wanted to explain to me where I could find them and asked me "Are you in the bathroom now?" Me: No, is there a phone in the bathroom? I didn't see any. She: No there isn't. I was like... DUH. For such a high class hotel, and there isn't a phone in the bathroom, that's pretty weird.

- The toiletries were "hidden" in their "specially designed" cabinet, where you can only see them if you get into the bathtub. The size of the bathroom was relatively small compared to the size of the room. The non slip mat was still wet when I unrolled it, and there was "something unpleasant" that was not properly cleaned.

- They provided espresso machine. There's an automatic minibar whereby any consumption will automatically be billed to the room. However the mini bar was completely empty. I called to check and be sure that I won't be accused of taking all the drinks from the mini bar. I was informed that the mini bar was left empty because the sensor was not functioning. Hmmm.. shouldn't they inform me earlier?

- The TV was huge and great! The remote control has a point-and-shoot sensor. But it hangs the whole time. And the only solution is to restart it. Eventually you'd rather not watch.

- There is no stand mirror in the hallway / near the door like most hotels do. So there's no "last minute check" on your appearance before leaving the room.

- It's an open wardrobe and no proper door. If you're inviting some guests over, just be sure you don't leave your private things around, cos it's visible the moment you step into the main area. (See photo)

- Complimentary water bottles were conveniently overlooked.

- For in-room dining, there's no printed menu. You may choose from the TV - which hangs the whole time.

Still, there are a few things that's worth some compliments:

- The room is very spacious.

- The bed is very comfortable

- The light next to the bed has an auto sensor. There's a dim light that comes on whenever it senses some movements, so it's very convenient if you need to check your phone etc etc..

- The water pressure is perfect

- Service was pleasant

- There are 2 spacious balconies

- Very conveniently located next to a shopping mall

Luxurious yet Vintage May 17, 2012
Luxury is a yes and Vintage is a yes..

Many people stayed at this hotel for their business trip as the location is excellent with easy access to almost everything. It has direct access to the Mall and MRT station. Business travelers are recommended to stay here as his hotel provides access for one stop of groceries, meals, boutiques!!

The hotel is a very vibrant and busy hotel. I was asked to wait approx 1 hour until my room was ready though it was already the check in time and had to change room as the room given was not according to my request but at the end I was given the room with a fabulous view of the MBS. My friend came before the check in time but managed to get a room ready upon her arrival. I guess it depends on the occupancy rate of the hotel during the visit.

However, according to my personal opinion, this hotel is overrated as the rooms does not really show "Swissotel The Stamford". Rooms need to be refurbished to show the extravagant of "Swissotel The Stamford"...

Luxury in the heart of the city Nov 19, 2011
This is a hotel located in the heart of town - City Hall. Easily accessible by bus, train (City Hall MRT station) and taxi.

Boasting being the tallest building in Singapore before 1Altitude Bar came along. Its a hotel with great view of the city.

This hotel has changed names a couple of times over the years. There is a big mall - Raffles City Shopping Mall & Fairmount Hotel (a sister hotel) all linked to the Swisshotel building.

There are 2 ways to get to your room, either through the main big entrance or though a "secret" way through their sister hotel. Just show the guard your room card and you will be allowed entrance to use the lift.

My room was located at the 55th floor so I got a great view from my balcony. The only problem is reception. There is a WIFI spot in the room but that does not help when I need to make a phonecall on my cellphone. I had to go out into the balcony for a reception but when u are on the 55th floor the wind sounded quite noisy!!!

There is a complimentary bottle of water and tea/coffee set.

Bathroom was big, there is a shower and a bathtub. Marble floors and countertops. Hotelroom slippers for those who like to steal those slippers! There is also a bathrobe!!

The bed was big and very comfortable pillows/ comforters. The furniture is somehow not up to my expectation. I think the hotel need to re-furbish itself again.

The hotel also has a spa which i think is quite expensive (S$250++ package)

Being a hotel guest did assisted us in getting a table (without prior reservation) at the Equinox restaurant which is known to be expensive. Although I feel the lady at the restaurant is quite dumb in refusing to let us into the restaurant at first. She insisted on checking with the concierge whether we were really hotel guests despite me flashing my room card!! (I will write more on this in my review of the restaurant). We also got access to the famous bar - New Asia Bar easily.

So basically if you can spare the cash, this hotel is convenient.

Luxurious hotel of 72 storeys in central Singapore, overlooking the heart of this city and a magnificent night view. Nov 21, 2011
I have stayed in Swissotel The Stamford a couple of times. First of all, it is one of tallest hotels in this city and provides a magnificent view (especially in the night) of the heart of the lion city. Secondly, located at the first few levels of the building is a moderate-sized yet comprehensive shopping mall (Raffles City Shopping Centre) that has quite a number of restaurants of various price ranges. Thirdly, the hotel is located right smack beside the MRT train station (City Hall). In any case that you choose the MRT over taxis, the location of the hotel makes traveling in Singapore so much easier and much more accessible as it is at city hall interchange station. Lastly, if you are looking for some nightspots to go to, it will be convenient too as just across the street from the hotel is a old church-turned-restaurants/bars place called Chijmes which has many restaurants/bars and a couple of small live band clubs. And if u wanna experience a more exciting nightlife, Clarke Quay is the nightspot to go to and it takes only approx 25 mins by walking and 10mins by bus and 5 mins by car. Swissotel is also near to places like esplanade, more shopping malls and also marina bay sands where the casino is.

Great Hotel in CBD Apr 30, 2011
I have stayed in many Hotels in Singapore CBD. Swissotel Stamford seems to be my best choice because it's location is perfect for a business traveller or a holiday traveller.

The bar at 72nd floor " New Asia lounge" is awesome at the end of a tough day at work. Even if you don't stay a Swissotel Stamford, do drop in to experience New Asia Lounge :-).

Cheers

Very convenient for everywhere Dec 30, 2010
This hotel is right next to the shopping mall and located in the city central.

Services are good, but very expensive.

The view from the hotel is nice if you can stay in the higher floors.(Highest building in Singapore)

They provide Japanese newspaper for Japanese ppl.

Great Location in Singapore Dec 31, 2009
Staying at the the Swissotel The Stamford in Singapore is a nice experience.

The location is just great, as there is a huge shopping center connected to the Hotel, plenty of restaurants all around including Starbucks, and the access to the metro is just 2 minutes away.

The Hotel is an impressive 71 floors building with great views of Singapore. There are enough lifts for with no problem. The food of the Hotel is excellent.

The rooms are really big , very clean as well as the bathrooms.

If you are looking for a great Hotel with excellent location and quality service, then the Swissotel Stamford in Singapore is a great option !!!

Swissotel the Stamford, Singapore May 13, 2008
I love this hotel, especially since work is paying. It's not cheap. Try to get the highest floor possible, with a harbor view. The view of the Quays and downtown from these rooms is awesome...even better than from the New Asia Bar on the 71st floor! You get room-charge priveleges at the Raffles Hotel, so you don't have to shell out cash for the Singapore Slings :-) Connected to Raffles Plaza and the City Hall metro station. Right across the street from Chijmes. The whole city is at your disposal from here! Internet is not free, and breakfast is rarely included, but there's two Starbucks in the Raffles Plaza...so no issue for me. And did I mention the view???
