Swiss Bakery and Market Cafe Springfield Reviews
An Alpine Cafe and Market in Springfield Jan 02, 2012
After enjoying all the good Central European food on our fall trip, Susan and I were ready for more Bavarian and Austrian cuisine. The day after New Year's, we visited the Swiss Bakery right in Springfield. It's a little over from where we are, and while we knew of it, we had not tried it. Glad we did!
The Swiss Bakery is set up very much on the model of a European market cafe. Breakfast and lunch are served until 2:00 p.m (3:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday), but the bakery and market hours are longer.
Well, we had to have Wurst! So, we each had a Bratwurst that included a roll, German Potato Salad, and mustard. Very good! Other hot and cold dishes are also served as well as soups and salads.
The Swiss Bakery has a market area with cheese, wine, beer, and chocolate imported from Switzerland, Germany, and Austria. There are also German-style meats produced in the Mid-Atlantic region. It is a bakery, as the name implies, with many confections and pastries on display.
We'll be back here!
