Sweetwater Creek State Park Lithia Springs Reviews
Sweetwater Hiking Trails Jun 05, 2011
$5 for parking, which is unenforced if there is no attendant on duty.
In May 2011, I hiked the Red trail, a 1-mile hike, along the creek, and hiked back to the parking lot on the Blue trail, a 2-mile hike.
I highly recommend the Red trail because it has the best scenery and you can actually dip your feet in the water to cool off from the Georgia heat. What I loved the most about this trail is the wildlife. I saw two snakes (one was a water moccasin!), lizards, and toads. It was the most wildlife I had seen in a public park. There is also an old 19th century mill along the creek. The Red trail dead ends into the Blue trail, and it can be a challenge getting up the stairs because they just drop.
The Blue trail was rather boring and long. There was nothing to look at.
Overall, I wouldn't really recommend walking the Blue trail. The Red trail was the most rewarding. There are places to sit and have lunch and play in the water.
There are 2 more trails in Sweetwater Creek State Park that I didn't have a chance to check out: the White Trail starts at the end of the Red Trail, and the Yellow Trail is a 3-mile loop.
