Swamp

I recently took a trip to Destin, FL for my best friend's bachelorette party. Her sister is only 19 so when we all decided to go out we had to find a place that was under 21 friendly. The closest place we found was about 15 minutes outside of Destin towards Pensicola. It was called the Swamp and it's located in a giant shopping center of clubs! We were a little taken aback by the $20 cover charge for her sister, being under 21 they won't make money off of her drinking. The cover for the rest of us was $10-$15, I can't remember exactly. So, first we were thrown by the high cover and then by the overtly grumpy guy at the gate. However, once we got inside and met the girls at the front desk our opinions began to change dramatically. Our bachelorette was let in free and the rest of us were greeted with smiles from above average ladies! The place had atleast 4 bars, and bear tubs situated randomly throughout the place. It was crowded, but there was plenty of room to move and breathe still. As far as music and dancing, they really had it figured out. For an hour a band would play and then they would switch out for 30 minutes while a DJ took over. The DJ played stereotypical hip-hop, pop, and dance music while the band covered great classic songs that everyone knew the words too and enjoyed memories of "OMG, this song reminds me of High School.". All in all, they were great. They even pulled all the bachelorette's in the room up on stage for a dance off, which quickly turned into a giant make-out session, thanks to my best friend. Like they say "Instant Lesbians, just add alcohol!". We met some decent guys to dance/drink with for the night who were not pushy about telephone numbers, dates, or hanging out after we left the club. They enjoyed our company as we enjoyed theirs, we shared a few laughs and even more drinks! We had a great time at this club and would happily go back if anyone in our group is still under 21. The overpriced cover is worth it if you can afford it...then again, it's not about where you go...it's all about who you go with.
