My home away from home May 28, 2013
On and off I have stayed at this hostel/guesthouse for about 4 weeks during April/May 2013.

It may not be the best hostel in Kuala Lumpur, yet I find myself coming back again and again.

The location is great, right in the heart of Chinatown and a short walk to Central Market (home of cheap souvenirs and a great upstairs food court).

Pasi Seni train station is about 1 minute walk, and this station is only 2 quick stops to KL Central.

The bus terminal near Pasi Seni train station has a free bus you can catch to Bukit Bitang (shopping complex) where you can get dropped off outside the fancy Pavillion shopping mall. The free buses are purple, and they departs every 5-10minutes or so (once the bus is full). It basically does a loop around the mall and back again. Very convenient!

A taxi ride to Changkat (trendy club area) is about 10 myr, but expect to pay 15-20 myr if you are returning to the hostel in the early hours of the morning (say 3am when the clubs close).

The hostel itself is situated on the first floor, something quite common for hostels in this area. Across the road is a seven eleven (which I have done some late night snack runs to).

The common area consists of a decent sized kitchen and large dining table where most people will eat at or work on their laptop. The TV area is very small (next to the reception) and consists of a few wooden seats - so do not expect to lie down and relax on a comfy couch and watch a movie.

The hostel doesn't appear to be a party hostel whatsoever, however you do find young people and couples around the mid to late 20s age group.

I have stayed in the private fan room (consist of a bunk bed and side table)for about 60 myr per night. However if you stay 5-7 nights or more, its worth asking for a discount, because chances are you might actually get one :)

I had some friends stay in the dorm rooms (both female and mixed) and they are air conditioned, yet quite small and compact. You do find those staying in the dorm will usually leave their backpack outside the room due to lack of space inside. The lockers provided are quite small (situated outside room), and you need to supply your own lock.

The beds in the private room are not the softest, nor are the pillows, however the hostel is always very clean and the staff extra friendly, so I guess the positives out way the negatives.

Overall I like this place, however I do think I keep coming back because its like a home away from home. The staff know who you are, ask how your day is and are very helpful with directions or suggestions regarding tourist places.

If you are after a party place or extra nice beds, this place is not for you.

The funny thing is, try this place and if you do not like it, there is about 10 or so hostels in the same street (or so) that you can try later :)

Small guesthouse with great location Jun 12, 2013
Located close to Chinatown, this guesthouse offers affordable bunk beds in a female or mixed dorm, and they have privates with either a bunk bed or a double bed. Dorm rooms are small, and the beds have thin mattresses and not very comfortable pillows. Only lower bunks have a lamp. The dorm rooms and double rooms have air conditioning, while the bunk bed privates are fanned. Dorms have small secure lockers located in the hallway.

Toast and jam breakfast is included, as is tea and coffee all day. There are two showers and two toilets with showers, all of which are cleaned up to several times a day. There is a fridge that guests can use, and they sell soft drinks.

Their WiFi works well most of the time, and there are two PCs for all to use. There is also a TV and you can borrow books from their selection or play a game.

Suzie’s guesthouse has a great location, situated close to Pasar Seni LRT station and Puduraya bus station. The free Go KL bus leaves from next to the LRT station.

The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, and the staff is helpful. It is also clean and tidy, and I decided to return to this place.
