I flew to Chicago to attend a friend's wedding in September 2007. I wanted to find a place near the magnificent mile/gold coast area of Chicago. I chose the Sutton Place Hotel simply for its great location near the Rush/Oak Street part of the city. In the summertime this area is a hub of activity due to the abundance of bars, dance clubs, restaurants, outdoor bistros and other types of social gathering spots. The room price was on the high side - I believe I was paying around $450/night for the room. There is no self parking available in the hotel. Valet parking will cost $42/day. My wife and I had separate rental cars, so that kind of sucked.
I had a room with a king bed on a high floor with a northern exposure. Not a lot to see from the room - just other buildings. The room was extremely comfortable and had a modern decor. Each room has a flat screen TV and DVD player to help pass the time. The bathroom is of medium size and has a bathtub separate from the glass enclosed shower. The hotel does not have its own restaurant but that's okay because there are a million different restaurants in the area. The Original Pancake House is directly across the street. They serve fantastic breakfasts. Chicago's famous Water Tower Place and Magnificent Mile is a quick four or five block walk from the hotel. If you need to catch the subway, that is also a quick four or five block walk to the Chicago Street subway station or the Division Street station. The Sutton Place is a very nice hotel but be prepared to pay for the location. I would probably stay here again. |
