The James River ferry crossing is about 20 minutes. Soon, we were arriving at the ferry dock in Scotland, VA. The landscape is quite different across the James in Surry County. After leaving the ferry dock, you are immediately on a country road leading through green peanut fields. In less than 5 miles we arrived in the small town of Surry.
