Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument
Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument Flagstaff Reviews
An Underrated Monument Jun 11, 2011
I found that this monument is underrated in Arizona. Located in Flagstaff, AZ, it is an amazing field of lava from a volcanic eruption. We did not hike up t Lenox which was recommended by the guide at the visitor center. We drove up the road to the trail head, but decided against hiking. We really did not have time to do it anyway, we were trying to get back home after 4 days in Utah!
The Visitor center is a great stop, so do stop by for information on the entire area. It is amazing to find places like Sunset crater still preserved the way it is. The last volcanic eruption in this area was 1000 years ago, evidence of this is in the ash and black rock.
PS:Do not leave for tomorrow what you can do today!
