Sunderland Hotel Sundern Reviews
One night in Sundern Jul 21, 2010
We had booked this hotel as part of a 'wellness'weekend trip to the German Sauerland, so we got a nice deal.
The hotel itself was easy enough to find and looked very impressive. I don't know if this is always the case, but it had an African theme going on. As such, there is something like TOO MANY wooden girafs in the lobby. It would have looked better without say 30 or so.
Reception was very friendly and helpfull in providing us with a walking route to the nearby Sorpesee (or so we thought).
The room was cozy, with a nice large bed and a decent sized bathroom. However, there was no airco, which we regretted during the night. There was no way to sleep with the window open with all the noise outside. I don't think this is alway the case, but we were there during the Worl Cup Football. Enough said.
The hotel has a little bierstube and 2 restaurants, which were rather pricey. Best to eat somewhere in town.
Breakfast was plentyfull and well organised. The one complaint I have though is that they were not prepared for the hot weather. The luncheon meat wasn't cooled properly and the butter was swimming in water. Not a good idea and definately not acceptable in this or any hotel for that matter. Especially not if you display the meats next to the yoghurt.
Overall, the experience wasn't bad and under normal circumstances I would definately recommend this hotel. Just not when it's 30°C+ outside.
