Sun Hostel Belgrade Reviews
Away from a noisy centrum Jun 24, 2014
The place oozes cheerfulness and brightness the first moment you enter the hostel. Starting from the reception area, though common areas and the rooms, it brings African spirit to life with lively colours and decorations.
The hostel is situated slightly outside of the city proper, but it has a convenient bus connection with a bus stop being just round the corner. Depending on traffic, bus ride to the centrum would take between 15-20 minutes.
There is definitely one advantage to the hostel not being right in the centrum – it is a quiet place with a small private patio/garden when you can enjoy a relaxing cuppa or breakfast.
The hostel offers private rooms in addition to normal dorms which is somewhat convenient if you would like more privacy.
Our double room was located on the first floor with the window opening to the garden. It was of a good size with dark furniture and African-style decorations giving it a warm touch.
Although we didn’t have a private bathroom, we discovered a sink hidden in our closet. Quite a bizarre, but comfortable arrangement.
Shared bathroom was just next door to use and was only for female use. Separate male bathroom was located at the end of first floor corridor (which is not very long). Ladies bathroom was equipped with a shower, a sink and a toilet (not sure about gents’ bathroom facilities).
The common area, including lounge, dining area, internet corner and kitchen, is comfortably vast and is located right next to the check-in. African motive spread all the way, created a tranquil atmosphere.
One of great benefits of this hostel is a laundry service, including drying, they provide at the very reasonable price.
Do not worry if it is your first visit to Belgrade, as staff will inform you on the best restaurants, places to visit, walking tours and local buses. They will provide any information you might need to make the best out of your stay.
Slight disadvantage for anyone arriving with a car – the hostel does not have assigned street parking and does not have private parking, so it might a little bit of a challenge to find a parking spot in the street.
As for general commodities – the hostel provides towels, some drinks (tea, coffee), fruit and internet.
Cleanliness – except for the kitchen, which might have been a touch cleaner (that also depends a lot on the guests), there was no issues.
Price paid for 1 night - €22.
To conclude, I found this place quite noteworthy and would recommend it to anyone who doesn’t like spending too much for accommodation, and values more social places.
