Sultan is a Turkish restaurant located in the Upper East Side around 2nd Ave and 80th Street. This restaurant is perfect for intimate gatherings, a three hour meal, and a flavorful full course meal. This restaurant is said to be one of the only authentic Turkish restaurants in Manhattan. I went with a group of six and we made reservations earlier that day. We ordered a popular Turkish liquor ($60 for a handle for the table) to start off our meal. Next, we asked the waiter if we could get a sampler of all of their appetizers; although it was not on the menu, the staff still came out with small dishes of each of their appetizers. The appetizers were light and rich in flavors, served with pita bread. For our main course, we ordered another variety plate... this time each of their different meats. The waiter brought out a mound of grilled chicken, lamb, steak and pork chops. This meat platter balanced our vegetable-heavy appetizer. For dessert, the staff gave us a decorated plate of apples, kiwis, oranges, and strawberries on the house. Overall, Sultan was one of my more enjoyable dining experiences in NYC.
